A Hobbit- a small chubby creature that likes to stay home and eat and do nothing, is going on an adventure where there are Trolls, Goblins and dragons... weird right. One of the conflicts that they ran into was when the Dwarves and Bilbo saw a light up ahead, and they sent the one person that they didn’t trust to go check it out. Big mistake. When Bilbo got to the fire he saw three gigantic Trolls eating mutton with their hands. “Gross” thought Bilbo when he first caught sight of the disgusting creatures. They started complaining about eating the exact same thing everyday and that they wanted something new to eat other than the rotten old mutton. The little Hobbit thought about going back to warn the Dwarves, but then a thought popped into his head. He thought that the dwarves would respect him more if he pick pocketed the Trolls, but it would have been better if Bilbo had not thought of that in the first place. When Bilbo tried to steal from one of the Trolls, the wallet magically grabbed him and the troll caught him. “And what er’ is this” asked one of the trolls. Bilbo was terrified. He implored them to not eat him, but because of the Trolls nasty hunger for something new, they started to think of ways to gobble him up. Luckily, Bilbo caught a break. Two of the trolls started fighting and Bilbo was able to scurry away. Unfortunately, the Dwarves got anxious and checked on the terrified Hobbit. As they came the trolls sacked them and put them on a branch. Soon all of the Dwarves were captured and the Trolls were brainstorming on how to eat them. All of a sudden the Trolls started talking and then stating that it was not they who said that and went on like that for a while.Suddenly, they stopped talking, and turned to rock, and the wizard, Gandalf, came out and let them go. Even though it didn't work out the way they planned, the clan was able to find food and weapons in the trolls chamber.
This is a WONDERFUL summary of what happens! I absolutely love your voice! You use wonderful words like sacked, gobble, terrified, magically, popped, disgusting and big mistake. You did not, however address the question of conflict and how it moves the story forward. What do you think Tolkien is doing here? Mrs. Best
